ABS / ASA
3D filament ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) and ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) are commonly used materials in 3D printing due to their strength, water resistance and UV resistance for ASA. ABS is a soft material while ASA is somewhat harder and more weather resistant. Both materials have good adhesion to the printing plate and create solid parts with excellent surface quality. However, printing ABS may require an enclosure to avoid distortion and ASA can emit strong odours during printing. It is therefore important to work in a well ventilated environment.
